Duties:

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Create and maintain new and existing product specifications/tech packs. Communicate updates and specification changes to contractors;provide administrative support for managing the company’s product development functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate track, communicate and manage product specification changes and new style additions. (fabric and trim, pattern changes, fabric changes, color lab dips, label, trim component).  Enter and update new and existing special styles in AS400. 

Update product specifications as requested by Product Development, making revisions using project templates.  Ensure accuracy of information before sending to vendor.

Process requested, approved product changes working with Designer to update revisions to specs.  Communicate changes to costing group and other necessary personnel as required.

Measure sample garments and record in review file.

Work with Product Ideation, Sourcing and Quality Assurance when a new style is introduced, verifying that proper components and construction details are used.  Notify Designer of new styles and communicate the changes to appropriate personnel as necessary.

Maintaining accurate fabric, color and trim records and files to ensure timely and accurate development.  Enter all trim, lab dip and fabric submissions by vendors, noting acceptance and rejection status.  Monitor open programs and notify manager of problems or delays.

Assist in the initiation of requests for quality testing by fabric vendors and independent labs for merchandising, ensuring that all fabric quality meets Elbeco’s standards.  Distribute and track test results.  Maintain testing records and results.

Coordinate all package shipments to vendors, sales representatives and customers of samples, color standards, fabric swatches, etc.  Complete all paperwork and track shipments to ensure all components are approved on time

Organize and maintain work room samples so that only the most current styles are displayed.  Organize and maintain current Elbeco stock product library and competitive sample library.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks timely
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in product development within the apparel industry preferred
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Experience in Illustrator preferred, but not required
  • Minimum education- 2-year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of fabric and garment construction helpful
  • Detail-oriented, multi-tasker to track steps of all projects in progress.
